When is the best time to travel to Pris

I am planing a vacation to Paris and south France any suggestion for the best time of the year to do that

Ok it's been a while since this question has been asked but maybe it's of interest for others...I've been to Paris twice, once around May and once in the fall and I have to say I've enjoyed it more in the fall...

-Winter: great Xmas decorations and shopping ambiance, especially if snow present (no guarantee). Marche de noel is so nice.
-Fall and spring: beautiful weather, may rain a times. Lower season ie lower price to visit attractions
-Summer: sun, tourists, attractions going strong, few authentic Parisians around in case you wanted to meet them
